How Debt Defense Attorneys Can Find More Clients in Utah
Debt collection is the most common case type in Utah's District Courts, and in nearly every one the person being sued has no attorney when the case is filed. That makes the filing itself the best moment to reach them. Court records show who was sued, by whom, and where they live, the same day the case opens.
How big is debt collection in Utah courts?
In our own review of one sample week of District Court filings (September 28 to October 2, 2026), debt collection was the largest single case type. More than 230 debt collection cases were filed on one Friday alone. The court's search tool stops showing results after 500 rows, so the real number is higher.
Those figures are our observation of a single week, not a published statistic. They are enough to show the volume is large and steady.
What does a debt collection filing tell you?
A filing lists each party and their role: the plaintiff (usually a creditor or debt buyer) and each defendant. It also shows whether any party has an attorney of record. In the cases we reviewed, the creditor had an attorney and the individuals being sued did not. Debt collection filings usually carry a mailing address for each defendant, which is why these leads often need no separate lookup.
Why does timing matter for debt defense?
A person who is served with a lawsuit has a limited window to respond. The court record shows the filing date, so you know how fresh the case is. Reaching someone in the first days after filing is different from reaching them after they have already missed a deadline. For the general case on speed, see how fast to contact a new lead.
How do you get these leads from Revenue Spark?
Choose the debt defense categories at signup: debt collection, eviction (tenant side), wage and tax liens, judgments, and foreclosure. Each night you receive the defendants without an attorney of record in the counties you picked. Utah consumer debt defense leads explains the categories, and pricing lists the per-lead rate.
If your practice also takes creditor-side work, the same cases are available from the other direction. See how collections attorneys find business clients.
