Arbitration Awards in Utah Courts

Utah courts record arbitration awards as a separate case type. The court defines it as "the terms of an award resulting from arbitration." In one sample week we counted several dozen. We have not yet opened one, so this post separates what the court says from what we know.

What does the court say?

From its case type list: an arbitration award case is "the terms of an award resulting from arbitration." In plain terms, a dispute was decided in arbitration and the award has been filed with the court.

How many are filed?

In our own review of one sample week (September 28 to October 2, 2026), arbitration awards ran roughly 28 to 42 statewide. That is our observation of one week, not a published statistic.

What have we not verified?

We have not opened an arbitration award case, so we cannot say what it shows about the parties, addresses, or attorneys. Revenue Spark includes the type under civil litigation. Check the first leads you receive before deciding how much weight to give it.

Who might use it?

An attorney who handles enforcement or confirmation of awards, or who works for parties after arbitration, may find these filings relevant. We have not tested that against real demand.

How does it relate to other civil work?

An award is the end of a dispute that started elsewhere, unlike a contract case that begins one. See what a Utah contract dispute filing shows and low-volume civil case types.
